The Ramsgate Lions are holding their bi-monthly blood sugar testing morning at the Hibiscus Mall in Margate this Saturday from 9 till 12.30am.
This is a free service to the community, although a donation is always appreciated.
Lion Rob Henry invited the public to take advantage of the opportunity to get tested.
“The problem facing us is, diabetes is known as the ‘Tsunami of the 21st Century’, killing more people worldwide than AIDS and cancer combined,” he said.
“Our main objective is to bring diabetes into the spotlight, in the hope that it gains the recognition it deserves, instead of remaining in the shadow of HIV/AIDS and cancer.
“Remember – one small prick can save your life,” he added.
