Beach Vibe Tour ready to rock South Coast summer



Ugu South Coast Tourism has announced the best-ever summer fun this December!

Holidaymakers are in for non-stop excitement with plenty new and innovative beach activities to keep everyone entertained.

Great sponsors have come on board to offer an array of events with fabulous prizes and giveaways to keep the action ongoing.

The first-ever South Coast Carnival will be launched on 15 December at St Michael’s on Sea, complete with a colourful cultural parade from Shelly Beach, biggest braai fest in South Africa and live music fest, hosted by none other than Somizi! Tickets range from R150 and will be made available on the day of the event on site at St. Michael’s on Sea.

For beach thrills, the destination is going even bigger this season with 11 popular beaches hosting fun beach activities. New events have been introduced to keep all ages entertained throughout the festive season.

A Vibe Van Chill Zone will offer beach visitors free Wi-Fi access, selfie hotspot backdrops, beach tennis, dance competitions, limbo fun, cool DJ tunes, slops hide & seek, beach bucket toss and thousands of rands worth of fabulous giveaways & prizes. This will be on throughout December up until 5 January at various beaches including Ramsgate, Margate, Southbroom and St. Michaels.

Visitors searching for Rest and Relaxation can chill even more with Sunrise Beach Yoga at Southbroom beach or Pop Up Beach Massages at Southbroom and Port Edward beaches.

Students will enjoy action activities all summer long, but a special Margate Student Fest will be put on for them before families arrive with Beach Sport Zones, Chill Lounges and Energy Bars on 7 and 8 December at Margate beach. Splash 2019 on 28 December in Margate has a music line up featuring some of SA’s top DJs. Ray Nkonyeni Summer Sports Tour will carry on the fun 29-30 December.

Families will be delighted with the range of activities this year. REMAX is hosting Family Fun Days at Umtentweni, Mtwalume, Uvongo, Southport, St Michaels on Sea and Ramsgate beaches with 3 legged beach soccer, Flag Races, Bucket Brigade and Giant Sack Races.

DSTV CARTOON NETWORK will again be on the KZN South Coast with their character meet & greets, Hasbro Slot, Inflatable Penalty Shoot Out (Zig and Sharko), Kiddy’s Fun Quiz, Talent Show, Ben 10 Race, Powerpuff Gladiator Blast, Human Racing Giant Inflatable Balls, General Fun & Games in Kiddies Chill Zone, Volleyball, Swing ball, Trampoline Fun and Taffy Water Balloon Competitions. Don’t miss them on 21 December at Ramsgate beach and 22 December at Margate beach. The OROS Summer Tour invites families to enjoy summer with slippy slides, tug of war, treasure hunts, giant pick up sticks, beach games and more.

Even more sponsored beach events are with COCA-COLA who will host Gladiator Games, Beach Sports Zones, Spin the Wheel, Archery and Game Interactive Zones at St Michael’s on Sea on 14 December, Scottburgh on 22 and 23 December and Margate on 24 December.

ISLAND TRIBE hits KZN South Coast beaches with non-stop family fun, giveaways, sun protection squads, surf expression sessions, Latin limbo dancing compo’s, beach volleyball, touch rugby and loads of family beach games. What’s more you stand a chance to win a trip for 2 to Mauritius!

The KZN South Coast’s very own local brand TIAGO’S is hosting their Summer Flame Tour at Margate beach (17 Dec), St Michael’s on Sea (18 Dec), Ramsgate (28 Dec) and Hibberdene (29 Dec)

Hibberdene Comedy & Culture Show will entertain on 22 December and the Scottburgh Summer Festival of Sport on 20-21 December. Prepare for non-stop Sports Action on 22 December at Port Edward beach and 15, 18 and 30 December at Southport beach, playing Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball and Beach Cricket Zones. On Reconciliation Day on 16 December, a Home Coming Picnic will be hosted at St Michael’s Beach and KZN Drag Racing at Dezzi South Coast Raceway.

Being the Golf Coast, golf is always found around the corner. Join the Umdoni Team Challenge on 7 December, the Annual Umdoni Day 4BBB Stableford on 17 December, the Presidents Club at San Lameer on 22 December and the San Lameer Open on 23 December.

Families and dog lovers can watch agile canines on 9 December at the Borough Sports Ground, Port Shepstone and the those who want to learn more about sharks are invited to Rocky Bay Beach for Shark Awareness from 12 December to 13 January. SA Dance Championships are on in Margate 14-16 December. KZN Drag Racing will thrill on 15 December and on 24 December join the Hospice Fun Run, starting at the Uvongo Fishing Pier.

Community markets are always worth supporting for its local goods, so make a point to pop over to the annual Scottburgh Mardi Gras on 17 December and the Margate Mardi Gras on 12, 19 and 24 Dec as well as 3 and 9 January 2019. Three new markets to try out are The Coast Market on 22 and 29 December and 5 January; the Riverbend Market and Carnival in Scottburgh next to the Mpambanyoni River on 9, 23 December and 27 January; and Halfway Community Market on 15-17 December in Port Shepstone.

Keeping a festive spirit, join the Harvest Gospel Festival in Margate on 1 December in Margate, 8 December at St Michael’s and 5 January at Port Edward beaches; the Carols by Candlelight at Hibiscus Mall on 20 December; the Radio Sunny South Community Upliftment on 15 December on Margate beach and the Christmas Truck on 24 December taking not only a coastal route this year, but adding an inland route too.
