Blue Ocean Aquatics Swim Club competed in the TYR Westville Sprints Swimming Championships last weekend and came home with medals, personal best times, swimmers qualifying for the next level and a record.
In total, the club came home with three gold medals, 11 silver and eight bronze medals.
Daniel Fisher broke the 11-year-old 50m breaststroke record in a time of 38.81 and won gold as well as silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m butterfly event.
Milla Drakopoulos won a gold medal in the 50m backstroke and two silver medals in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke events in the 12-year-old age group.
Daena Robinson won a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke and a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke. She also qualified as a level 3 swimmer in the 100m breaststroke.
Jethro Rolfe won two silver medals in the 50m fly and 100m breaststroke and two bronze medals in the 100m fly and 50m breaststroke events.
Jethro also qualified for the next level of competitive swimming in the 200m breaststroke by qualifying for South African junior national age group level.
Amber Vorster won a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke and a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke.
Marnu Koekemoer won four silver medals in the following events: 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke and 200m individual medley as well as a bronze medal in the 50m breaststroke.
Keytin Vorster won a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle event. Michelle Kretzschmar won a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke and swam a qualifying time for the South African junior national age group event.
Kayla Heydricks, Wine Koekemoer, Carla Kretzschmar, Nelzaan Strydom and Tharien Venter were all on form and swam personal best times in most of their events.
