Busy weekend for South Coast NSRI crews in and out of the water

STATEMENT BY NSRI PORT EDWARD DUTY CONTROLLER ALAN STILWELL:

At 08h00, Saturday, 03rd March, NSRI Port Edward medical crew responded to a Port Edward residence to medically assist an 82 year old female who was not feeling well and our medics rendered medical assistance and summoned an ambulance..

KZN Private Ambulance services transported the lady to hospital in a stable condition.

STATEMENT BY NSRI SHELLY BEACH STATION COMMANDER JEREMIAH JACKSON:

At 11h47, Sunday, 04th March, NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew were activated following reports from Shelly Beach Control of the fishing charter boat Lucky Sands suffering motor mechanical failure of one motor off-shore of Shelly Beach.

The sea rescue craft Shelly Spirit was launched and ferried 8 crew to shore from the casualty craft.

The sea rescue craft Spirit of Dawn was prepared to be launched to assist but after all 8 crew from the casualty craft were safely brought ashore, the casualty vessel was able to beach on one motor unassisted and once safely ashore no further assistance was required.
