Combined Ops Shellhole supports South Coast Hospice

The Combined Ops Shellhole bowls day took place at Margate Bowling Club on Sunday.

The Combined Ops Shellhole held the event in memory of John Norman and Mr and Mrs Ron Connellan and is arranged annually by Rennie Geyer.

Bowlers gathered to take part in a day of bowls and to raise funds for South Coast Hospice.

They honoured lost loved ones with a moment of silence and later enjoyed tea with homemade muffins by Lenie Geyer and a tasty lunch along with friends and Combined Ops Shellhole members.

At prize-giving, bowlers received a bounty of prizes sponsored by the Connellan family and South Coast Hospice fund-raising co-ordinator BT King was presented a donation of R10 000 from the Connellan family and R3000 from the Combined Ops Shellhole through the bowling club.

King commented: “Family members of family and friends that have gone before and are the reason for this memorial golf day have continued with this fund-raising event for more than 13 years.

“As we draw near to the first anniversary of the passing of Mr Rory Connelland on the 28th, the staff of South Coast Hospice express their gratitude of the ongoing support and condolences of the passing of their respective family members.”
