Southcity Junior Primary recently hosted their annual prize-giving where the achievements of the past year were celebrated.

It was a happy occasion which included a Bible reading and prayer done by the Grade 3 learners. The Junior Primary choir entertained the parents and staff with an amazing performance under the guidance of Miss Kinsey-Ahlers and Miss Tanner.

Each learner from Grade R to Grade 3 received a certificate for their academic achievements.

In each grade, special mention was made of learners who excelled in Afrikaans and Zulu throughout the year.

Mrs Naranjo, who leaves our school at the end of 2018, handed out the special awards to the learners.

A special mention must be made of the following Grade 3 learners:

  • Kate-Lynne Fourie, who was awarded the Girls’ Swimmer of the Year, Netball Player of the Year, Athlete of the Year and the Junior Primary Sportswoman of the Year awards; and,
  • Hercue de Bruin, who was awarded the Cricket Player of the Year, Sportsman of the Year and the Junior Primary Treasurer of the Word winner. He also received the Top Academic and the Student of the Year awards.

The Junior Primary staff would like to congratulate all the learners on a most successful year on the sports field and in the classroom.
