International matches will elevate the Paddock Polocrosse Tournament to a new level in Oribi next weekend.

The tournament annually attracts players from across the country to the Rust Bucket Oribi Museum (GPS: S 30-40-320/E 30-15-280) for two days of exciting action, with this year’s edition set to be extra special.

That is because this year’s event will incorporate the Under-14 team international test series between South Africa and Zambia.

Jake Shaw from Bishopstowe will have the honour of captaining the South African side coached by Ross Beukes in the three-match series, which starts with the opening match on Friday at 10am.

Hosts Paddock Polocrosse Club expects to welcome some 100 players for the event, among them local stars like Amber and Paige Pretorius, Jens Bunge and Kenan Classen, who represented South Africa during the recent test series against Australia and Zambia respectively, who are champing at the bit to play in front of their home crowd.

Paddock Polocrosse Club chairman Derrick Classen told eHowzit: “We are looking forward to hosting the event. It promises to be an entertaining, action-packed and fun-filled weekend and we encourage locals to come and support this exciting event.”

The fun tournament will get underway on Saturday at 8am (to 5pm) and conclude on Sunday at around 2pm and will once again include the popular Pee Wees.
