The Lake Eland Classic taking place this Sunday is an event not to be missed and will have added importance this year.
That’s because the event, held at the picturesque Lake Eland Game Reserve, is the fourth and final round of the South Coast Fever MTB and Trail Run Series.
The race was one of the late, great Burry Stander’s favourite events, and is hosted by the Burry Stander Foundation.
It’s thus a perfect opportunity to remember the legend and support the foundation set-up in his honour to help develop the sport on the South Coast.
The event caters for riders of all skill levels – with 10km, 25km and 45km rides – and offers routes with spectacular open mountain sections and orchard trails.
Trail runners have three distances to choose from – 5km, 10km and 20km.
Pre-entry costs R50 (10km), R120 (25km) and R170 (45km) for the mountain biking events and R50 (10km), R120 (25km) and R170 (45km) for the trail running events.
Late entries will be accepted on the day at an addition fee.
Registration starts at 5am, with the first trail run starting at 6am and the first race getting underway at 7.30am.
