PRESS RELEASE BY UGU SOUTH COAST TOURISM:

Ugu South Coast Tourism has opened a new Visitor Information Centre (VIC) at Mattison Square in Port Edward, in time for the summer holidaymakers.

The office provides tourism information to visitors and locals who want to explore the KZN South Coast, but differs from other VICs in that it features a wide range of items for sale, which is made by local crafters.

CEO, Phelisa Mangcu, remarked that the office complemented the other art and craft shops in the shopping centre and said that she is pleased local crafts are made accessible to locals and visitors.

“Apart from adding to the tourism information infrastructure, the new VIC also provides a platform for the crafters to showcase and sell their work, forming part of the overall visitor experience and addressing the organisation’s development mandate.”

Skhumbuzo Madlala, previously from the Southbroom VIC, welcomes visitors to the office and provides the necessary tourism advice. His service adds to that provided by colleague, Palesa Makhaye from the MacBanana VIC, in Munster.

The number of VICs on the KZN South Coast totals 8 with a further 4 Satellite Offices, operated by the private sector. Visitors are encouraged to use them before or over holiday periods to find out accommodation availability, book buses and transport services, enquire about attractions, activities and other services and pick up free copies of the official route guide, the Southern Explorer, as well as Kids Activity Books.

Please visit or contact your nearest VIC for information on the many activities and adventures that await beyond the KZN South Coast beaches:
