NSRI Port Edward assist at motor vehicle accident

STATEMENT BY NSRI PORT EDWARD STATION COMMANDER JOHN NICHOLAS:

At 12h00, Wednesday, 08th August, NSRI Port Edward medical crew were activated to assist at a motor vehicle accident on the Ezingweni Road involving 2 motor vehicles, a light pick up (LDV) and a hatchback.

Our sea rescue vehicle responded and on arrival on the scene NSRI medics assisted Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue Services, the SA Police Services, Ray Nkonyeni Traffic Services, KZN Private ambulance services and Netcare 911 ambulance services treating 2 male patients on the scene, one from each vehicle, including the freeing of one of the men, from entrapment in one of the vehicles, using hydraulic rescue equipment to free the trapped man.

Both men, aged 54 and 42, were transported to hospital by ambulance for further treatment. One in a serious but stable condition and one in a stable condition.
