A thriving Uvongo Tennis Club celebrated a sterling year at their annual Christmas party at Cafe Munro in Margate Retirement Village recently.
Players and their loved ones enjoyed great food and good fun and each person received a small gift from the club. A Christmas cake made and donated by Di Digby was won by Sonja Watt.
After a busy year for the Committee and volunteers who organised various club events and tournaments, the club finished 2018 on a high note with the resurfacing of all five courts as well as the practice wall.
It was just reward for all the hard work dedicated by members. A grand opening of the new blue and sandstone courts will be held early in the New Year.
The club continued to grow from strength to strength in 2018.
At the recent Ugu Tennis Association annual general meeting, the club was acknowledged as the second most active club in KwaZulu-Natal.
What’s more, junior tournaments – both at provincial and local levels – were successfully held throughout the year as part of the club’s vision to increase the level of competition so as to generate greater awareness of junior tennis.
