STATEMENT BY NSRI SHELLY BEACH STATION COMMANDER JEREMIAH JACKSON (PICTURED):
At 07h05, Saturday, 10th February, NSRI Shelly Beach duty crew were activated following reports from an eye-witness walking on the beach at Oslo Beach (near to Port Shepstone) where the eye-witness, walking her dogs on the beach, grew concerned after coming upon upon two sets of clothing folded and on the beach in a neat pile but no sign of anyone in the vicinity.
Fearing that two people may have gone for a swim and not returned the alarm was raised.
NSRI rescue swimmers responded in our sea rescue vehicle and the SA Police Services, Police Search and Rescue, and Med-Evac ambulance services responded.
A shoreline search was conducted and Police took two sets of males’ clothing, into their care and despite a search no sign of anyone who had left clothing on the beach was found and there remains no reports of anyone missing that may relate to this.
Police are investigating.
