Port Shepstone Lions, Lion Ladies and their guests celebrated their club’s 49th Charter anniversary last Saturday during a glittering event held Schooners Galley in Umtentweni.
Emcee Lion Kevin Ross officiated the evening with his usual humorous antics and quotes. During his reply to the toast to the Lions Club of Port Shepstone, Club President Dale Mc Garry thanked members and Lion Ladies for their ongoing efforts in keeping the club active and successful.
During his reply on behalf of Lions Clubs International, Vice District Governor Jeff Smith praised the Port Shepstone Lions and Lion Ladies for their ongoing commitment to serving the needy and for the spirit of friendship that exists within the club.
Past Council Chairman Denis Meyer officially induced the club’s newest member, Dirk van Tonder, who has been sponsored by Lion Clayton Curnow.
Hats off to Lion Clayton Curnow and his team for their fine efforts in organising and setting up the venue and to the management and staff of Schooners Galley for their excellent venue, service and cuisine.
Port Shepstone Lions Club was the first Lions Club chartered on the KZN South Coast back in 1970 and next year, the club will be celebrating their golden anniversary. A huge celebration is planned to commemorate this achievement.
