Southcity Senior Primary achievers honoured – photo gallery

Southcity Senior Primary last week hosted their annual prize-giving where the achievements of the past year were celebrated.

It was a joyous celebration which included a devotion, prayer and speeches by the Grade 7 leavers and a spectacular choir performance.

Mr Harry Lourens, chairman of the Board, handed out the special awards.

Special mention must be made of the following Grade 7s:

  • Christopher Naranjo was Dux and Erin Thomson was awarded Dux Proxime Accessit and Monitor of the Year;
  • Scarlet Scorer was awarded the Girl Swimmer of the Year and Netball Player of the Year;
  • Chaz Young was the Boy Swimmer of the Year;
  • the Margate Pharmacy Trophy for Student of the Year was awarded to Slondiwe Ndwalane;
  • the Good Fellowship Award was awarded to Ashlee Gundry;
  • the Girls’ Cricket player of the Year and Girls’ Hockey player of the Year, was jointly awarded to Sinethemba Nyathi and Slondiwe Ndwalane;
  • Devan Cawood and Jack Snell shared the Boys’ Cricket Player of the Year;
  • the Rugby Player of the Year was awarded to Werner van Niewenhuizen;
  • Caitlin Farren and Rafe Drummond were awarded Cross Country Athlete of the Year;
  • Christopher Naranjo was awarded the Boys’ Hockey Player of the Year;
  • the Girl and Boy Athlete of the Year was awarded to Sinethemba Nyathi and Curt Bahlmann respectively;
  • the Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year was awarded to Frida Lyth and the Boys’ Soccer Player of the Year was Curt Bahlmann;
  • the Sportsgirl for 2018 was Sinethemba Nyathi and Sportsman of the Year was Jack Snell.
