Southcity soccer star heading to Portugal

Southcity Christian College hosted the last eight games of the Top 32 Soccer Tournament recently.

Schools from all over KZN participate in this tournament. The Southcity boys first team played against Aquadene High School, who were the eventual winners.

During the tournament, scouts were present and identified players who showed promise.

As a result of this, Southcity first team goalkeeper Gareth Pieterse has been invited to represent a team to play in Portugal in December.

Meanwhile, Southcity’s first cricket team played against St Patrick’s on Thursday.

Southcity batted first, making 158 for six in 20 overs. Pieterse top-scored with 66 while Reydon Basson finished on 55 not out.

St Patrick’s were 41 all out, with Jakob de Villiers taking three for three as Southcity won by 117 runs.
