Tennis takes centre stage this weekend as local clubs host the Ugu South Coast Tourism Tennis Tournament.
A record number of players will flock to the South Coast for the three-day tournament, which will be contested at Southbroom, Uvongo, Douglas Mitchell and Umtentweni tennis clubs.
The third edition of the popular annual tournament, which caters for U10, U12, U14, U16 (boys and girls) and open players, will get underway on Friday at 2pm.
Business is bound to pick up on Saturday (from 7:30am) with the cream set to rise to the top on Sunday (from 7:30am).
“We have a record entry of 92 players including some of the top juniors in KZN,” tournament director Natalie Grandin told eHowzit.
“Entrance is free for spectators, and we thank Ugu South Coast Tourism for their support.
“This tournament is also the first Lollipop Series event in KZN and we are very excited for it to be happening down on the South Coast,” she added.
A Lollipop Series event is a red, orange and green ball event for beginners aged 4-12.
