WATER SERVICES UPDATE 12/01/18:
AREA NORTH (UMDONI MUNICIPALITY)
Water and Sanitation systems are stable and all in operation.
A supply problem has been detected in the Dweshula area which is being currently worked on by our technicians.
The Sezela Suction Main burst yesterday and repair work requires an excavator which is on the way to assist in the repairs.
AREA SOUTH WEST ( RAY NKONYENI AND UMUZIWABANTU MUNICIPALITIES)
All systems are stable and water supply is stable. A burst pipe was detected at KwaJali Reservoir. Technicians are on site working on the repairs
AREA SOUTH (UMZUMBE AND RAY NKONYENI MUNICIPALITIES)
The Mthamvuna plant is still operating on 50% production due to the pumping problem not yet being resolved at the pumpstation. …A new speed drive will be installed today. Currently all Reservoir outlets have been throttled therefore areas to from Southbroom to Port Edward, Banners Rest, KwaXolo and Nzimakwe, Shobamdlazi and Mlozane amongst others are experiencing low pressure or no water. Services are expected to be back to normality as soon as possible.
MARBURG TO RAMSGATE:
Supply systems are currently healthy and operating normally. However, please note that following the completion of pipeline repairs last night, the inlet to Uvongo Reservoir has been closed due to the backfilling process that still needs to be done this morning. Water will be opened by lunch time today.
BHOBHOYI TO HIBBERDENE:
The systems have stabalized and the break on the border of Melville and Pumula has also been completed. Please also note that technicians are on site attending to the break.
COURTESY UPDATE FRIDAY MORNING 12/1: UVONGO
Repair Work @ Edward rd was partially completed last night.
Team needs to firmly secure the pipe this morning (back filling) to prevent breaking, and water will be opened .
Reservoirs are 50% and 37%; meaning that water supply will be restored almost immediately after opening.
Please allow another 2 hours; and I will update you if anything changes.
URGENT UPDATE FRIDAY MORNING 12/1: SOUTHBROOM TO PORT EDWARD.
As alluded to last night; work is continuing this morning; unfortunately taking longer than anticipated.
The plant is still at 50% production.
Delivery of electro mechanical parts have been secured;
Please note that relief water will be sourced from Marburg for all these areas in need; hence delivery may not be as prompt and adequate as needed.
Though they anticipate to complete all installations this afternoon; full restoration may take another couple of hours after that.
I will keep you posted.
Kindly use water sparingly; the situation is now critical.
URGENT UGU UPDATE FOR SOUTHBROOM TO PORT EDWARD THURSDAY EVENING 11/1:
Pump replacement work at the plant is still in progress; delays due to electro mechanical challenges and supply.
Please note that Production is still at 50%;
It is now critical as all southern reservoirs are below 50% as of 6pm today; with majority below 20%.
The chances of full recovery tonight are slim; hence you are advised to use water sparingly.
