Port Edward reservoirs building up, relief tanks available

WATER SERVICES UPDATE: 27/12/18

PORT EDWARD:
Please be informed that reservoirs supplying the Port Edward area are building up. Water supplying has been reinstated in the low lying areas. The high lying areas are expected to be reinstated by later today.

In the interim, customers can get relief supply from the supplied static tanks until normal water supply resumes.

RELIEF SUPPLY:
Relief supply is being provided through water tankers and static tanks

Static tanks are available in the following areas:

1. Next to spar
2. Next to library
3. Cnr of 14 and 8th
4. Cnr of 14 and 6th

WATER SERVICES UPDATE UMUZIWABANTU AREA

Kindly be informed that the KwaMbotho area has a break in the pumping main which is being attended to.

The KwaJali system is recovering after a break in Christmas Eve. About 75% of areas now have water.

The team is attending to the other 25%

All residents in Shelly Beach must please note that the water supply interruption in this area is due to a burst pipe on Cnt of Swanmore and Seaview Road. Technicians are working towards restoring supply in this area.

WATER SERVICES UPDATE: PORT EDWARD

Good morning please be informed that the two breaks affecting water supply in the Port Edward area are being attended to by a team of technicians with specialized resources.

It is expected for the repairs to be completed by 17H00 today and thereafter water will be reopened.

The low lying areas are expected to be restored by later this evening while the rest of the affected areas to be fully restored by tomorrow morning.

MEDIA STATEMENT BY UGU DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY TUESDAY EVENING:

URGENT NOTICE: CHALLENGES ON THE PORT EDWARD RESERVOIR

Please be advised that Port Edward Reservoir is dropping due to a huge a leak on the Arbour Glade 250mm. This is going to require specialist contractors as work needs to be done across the river. At best this could take a minimum of 24 hrs.

This therefore necessitates to shutoff supply to Port Edward to prevent collapse of coastal system.

We will do our best to restore supply in the shortest possible time.
