UGU WATER SERVICES UPDATE 14 DECEMBER 2018:
WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTIONS IN QINABOUT AND MSIKABA
The areas of Qinabout and Msikaba are currently experiencing water supply interruptions due to a broken steel pipeline. As a result, water has been closed off until repairs are done as it was flooding private property. These areas will be serviced by water tankers.
The main reservoir roof structure has collapsed. Out technicians are on site conducting clean-up work. The reservoir will be refilled to restore water but while work to urgently repair roof is underway.
The Harding Treatment Works is back online temporally during peak season. Therefore, the community will be getting water on Mondays/Thursday/Saturday on a 24-hour basis each time.
The Businesses and St Andrews Hospital will be provided with water from 7am to 5pm and 6pm to 7am respectively.
The Municipality is working towards restoring water supply in the Malangeni community. While work to restore supply continues, the affected community will be serviced by water tankers. Wards currently affected are Wards 7, 8, 9 and 11.
The Scottburgh Beach remains closed as precautionary measure for bathing, swimming and other recreational activities until the water test conducted are satisfactory in accordance with South African Quality Guidelines for Recreational Water standards.
