URGENT UGU UPDATE ON WATER SUPPLY PORT EDWARD AREA:
Ugu District Municipality hereby informs residents and visitors alike in the Port Edward area that this area is experiencing a very high water supply demand and as a result, the Municipality is currently balancing the southern systems to ensure that we provide a supply to all areas.
Customers must note that the high lying areas of Port Edward will be mostly be affected.
We therefore urge customers to use water as sparingly as possible during this period to ensure supply interruptions are as minimal as possible.
MARBURG WATER SUPPLY RESTORED
The Municipality successfully restored water supply in the Marburg area at 5H00 this morning.
Technicians worked throughout the night to ensure normal water supply resumes in this area.
In confirming that supply was reinstated, the Municipality received this message from a local Cllr: “I would like to thank all staff for the hard work to restore water supply in all areas. Thank you”
WATER SERVICES UPDATE: UMUZIWABANTU AREA
The Municipality has been able to resolve the quality issue of the Weza Water Treatment Works and the plant has been running efficiently from yesterday.
Please also note that reservoirs (Machi and Elim) are very low as a result of the ON and OFF of the plant.
The Community of kwaMachi/Khwezi right up to Godloza and KwaJali are urged to use water sparingly.
WATER SERVICES UPDATE: UMTAMVUNA SYSTEM

Please note that are having few challenges in the Southern UMTAMVUNA system but there’s an intervention on the ground.
The Port Edward Reservoir is very low but there’s an inflow as Glenmore is just above 80% and is currently shut.
Leisure Bay is at a healthy level and this will be shut for an hour so to allow more supply to Port Edward.
Technicians are working hard to ensure supply is reinstated as soon as possible.
The Municipality sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
