UGU STATEMENT WEDNESDAY MORNING:

URGENT WATER SERVICES UPDATE ON SOUTHERN MAIN BULK PIPELINE: REPAIRS TO RESUME AT 9H00

AFFECTED AREAS: MARGATE EXTENSION 3/7, NOSITHA, RAMSGATE SOUTH/NORTH AND UVONGO

Communities of the above-mentioned areas are hereby informed that the repairs of the Southern main Bulk Pipeline which were conducted yesterday on the 375 mm were incomplete due to the new coupling which was found to be incompatible with the old pipeline section.

Team is sourcing required equipment for successful completion of the repairs which are expected to commence at 9H00. We have subsequently closed Ramsgate 4A early this morning to maintain storage until Seasoploess supply is opened. The 2A Reservoir has dropped and this will affect normal water supply to Manaba and parts of Uvongo.

The Municipality will do everything possible to ensure normal water supply is reinstated in the shortest time. We humbly apologise to the affected communities for any inconvenience caused.

Regards,
Ugu District Municipality
