Koch is king at Port Shepstone Country Club


Gerald Koch was in good form in the Auto Exec Monthly Mug at Port Shepstone Country Club on Saturday.

Koch boasted the best gross (74) and won the mug on 63 nett.

The A division was the most tightly contested of the divisions with Phil Myburgh counting out Gavin van Wyk for top honours on 72 nett.

Ken Morris won the B Division on 68 nett where Roy Matkovich placed second on 70 nett, while Tony Fairbairn prevailed in the C division on 68 nett where Denis Schmidt finished second on 69 nett.

It was also a memorable week for Beryl Olden, who managed wins on Wednesday and Saturday.

Olden, along with Peter Thompson, won Wednesday’s betterball bonus bogey on plus 13.

Ken Morris and Graham Dickson were the runners-up on plus 10, the pair counting out Paul and Leon Bunge.

Olden went on to clinch Saturday’s individual stableford on 37 points, one better than runner-up Anton Kohrmann.

Thursday’s fourball betterball was won by Lyn Mol and Fay Patterson ahead of second-placed Jane Lind and Anne Baldrey and third-placed Gloria Lundie and Hermien Theunissen.
