Margate golfers get year off to good start


The first men’s monthly medal of 2018 saw competitive golf being played at Margate Country Club on Saturday.

Louis Gouws was the most clear-cut winner, clinching the A Division by three on 73 nett over Sidney Shingange.

John Webster (pictured) won the B Division on 67 nett, edging Fanie Terblanche by one, while Doug Johnston counted out Allan Halvorsen for top honours in the C Division on 38 points.

Nearest to the pin were Bob Weanie on the 4th and Thys Bothma on the 11th.
