The Port Shepstone ladies team returned to the summit of South Coast golf when they clinched the league title at Umkomaas Golf Club at the weekend.
Coming up against Selborne in the final, the Port Shepstone side – known as the “Green Mambas” – scored two wins and a draw to seal the silverware.
The blend of experienced campaigners and new blood proved to be a winning combination with skipper Debi Stewart, 2014 ladies stroke and matchplay club champion Yzelle Greyling, Cecelia Verster and Annie Stoppel forming the core of the side.
Ladies club captain Cilla Lindsay made her league comeback this year, Jenny Hulley – in turn – played in her debut league season while Beryl Olden and Sue van den Berg donned Port Shepstone green for the first time in 2014.
We’re very happy with the win,” Stewart told eHowz!t.
“We had a new philosophy this year, stuck with it and managed to win the league.
“The new girls played really well and we had awesome team spirit. It was just a great, enjoyable season overall.”
