San Lameer raises the bar for Els for Autism Golf Day

San Lameer Country Club buzzed when it hosted another highly successful Els for Autism Golf Day recently.

Players came out in numbers and the picturesque club pulled out all the stops for the fund-raising event.

San Lameer has been supporting the Els for Autism Foundation – established in 2009 by Ernie and Liezl Els after discovering that their son Ben was profoundly impacted by the disorder – since 2016, and the third annual event at the club was the best yet.

The format was once again betterball stableford with Ryan Ringo and Paul Tedder securing a comfortable win on 52 points.

Runners-up Jaco van der Wal and Piet Fourie were five points adrift on 47, with Kevin Ponton and Jason Ackerman finishing third on 46.

Golfers won fantastic prizes but more importantly, raised funds for the Els for Autism Foundation, which along with the Ernie Els Centre for Autism, aim to provide families affected by autism across the globe with the best possible practice interventions and support.

“Taking the bar and raising it to new heights…that is exactly what the team managed to achieve as we hosted the final event of the Els for Autism for 2018, but the first event for the 2019 season,” said San Lameer Director of Golf, Meyer du Toit.

“We wish Nico [van Rensburg of the ELS Group]and the team everything of the best for 2019 and we look forward to being a part of this incredible series again in 2019,” added Du Toit.
