Port Shepstone Country Club’s ladies golf section held their annual general meeting recently, where a handful of awards were handed out to some of the standout players of 2016.
Greyling and Ceceila Verster were the WGSA medal winners in the silver and bronze division respectively, while Di Nadauld was acknowledged as the Most Improved Player.
Strauss and ladies captain Beryl Olden, meanwhile, were awarded Southern Inter Region Colours.
“It’s been a very memorable year for the ladies section as a whole and on a personal level,” Olden told eHowzit.
“We achieved a lot and represented really well. Whenever there were KZN and Southern Region competitions, Sheppie were there with a minimum of 12 ladies. There’s a good spirit in our ladies section we’re a happy group.”
Olden enjoyed the best 12 months of her nine-year playing career, most notably being crowned bronze division champion at the KZNLGA Amateur Matchplay Championship in Pietermaritzburg.
“It’s an honour to receive Inter Region Colours. I have no idea why my play picked up the way it did. I was relaxed I suppose, but it’s going down a bit now.”
Olden will continue her duties as ladies captain for a second year, as will the rest of the committee, namely Cecelia Verster (vice-chairperson), Dalene Steyn (secretary), Anne Baldrey (treasurer), Sue van den Berg (handicapper) and Annie Stoppel (fundraiser).
