DHL Western Province flyer Cheslin Kolbe proposed to his girlfriend Layla Cupido after the victory against the Boland Cavaliers, at DHL Newlands on Friday, and she said yes!
Following the 30-28 win, which saw DHL Western Province secure a place in the Currie Cup semifinals, there were more celebrations to come as teammates and fans watched Kolbe get down on one knee and ask Layla to be the future Mrs Kolbe.
The 22-year-old Kolbe explained that he wanted to ask Layla to marry him at DHL Newlands, as that is where they had first met in 2013.
“We had played a Currie Cup game against the Xerox Golden Lions, and after the match I noticed a beautiful girl in a red hoodie coming down Boundary Road outside DHL Newlands.
“She stopped myself and Kurt Coleman, because her friend wanted to take a photo with us, and I have been in love with her ever since,” he said.
Kolbe added that DHL Newlands feels like home to both of them, which made it the perfect venue to propose.
“Layla is the love of my life, and I wanted to propose to her at a place that holds a special place in both our hearts,” he said.
