This Easter the entire South Coast is the place for egg-sighting events from Scottburgh to Port Edward and down to the Wild Coast.

Local communities and visitors have a choice of beach events, festivals, sport events and religious celebrations.

Starting in Scottburgh, an Easter Beach Bonanza is planned for 14-17 April; Joberg2C mountainbiking athletes will have a rewarding finish in Scottburgh on 29 April and the much-awaited Scottburgh Easter Egg-Stravaganza can be relied on to provide fun for the whole family on 16 April.

Near Scottburgh, Lynton Hall will host May Day celebrations and Umdoni Golf Club the SS Temple Golf Club. On 2 April, Rocky Bay will have a trail run for all those itching to get outdoors and be active in beautiful surroundings.

Further down south and nearer Port Shepstone, Hibberdene Beach, Southport Beach and Sunwich Port Beach are all putting up a beach programme that will bring endless egg-sightment to the South Coast in April.

By far the most events will be in the Ray Nkonyeni tourist hub. Easter beach fun can be had at St Michael’s Beach, Uvongo Beach, Margate Beach and Ramsgate Beach. Like to ride your bike or watch a good race? Apart from the main must-attend April event, the South Coast Bike Fest (which happens to be a family fun, music lovers’ event, not only a biking pilgrimage on 27-30 April), the Dezzi South Coast Raceway is hosting the KZN Road Racing Club (KZNRRC) on 8 April, the Louise – Easter (14-17 April) and the Festival of Speed (28-29 April), which will coincide with the South Coast Bike Fest. The Loxion Motorshow at Gamalakhe’s Ugu Sports & Leisure Stadium also happens during the South Coast Bike Fest and will attract many who wish to have a good time with the likes of DJ Merlon, DJ Bongs, Oskido, DJ Oros, Professor, DJ Mngani, Maraza Hip Hop, Stiff New Kalawa, Character, DJ MDIX and DJ 101 rocking the stage from 5pm on 29 April till late.

At the southernmost reaches of the South Coast, Port Edward will also provide Easter fun on the beach, with the De Novo Lodge featuring a Deep House Sunday on 2 April and an Easter Family Festival on 16 April. Neighbouring Wild Coast Sun hosts the ever-popular Wild Coast Tournament for golfers on 23 April.
