The Ramsgate Lions are holding their bimonthly sugar testing morning this Saturday at the Hibiscus Mall in Margate from 9.00 till 12.30.
The 14th of November was World Diabetes Day. Diabetes is still one of the biggest silent killers in the world today.
Here are some of the symptoms to look out for:
Urinating often, feeling very thirsty, feeling very hungry, even though you are eating, extreme fatigue, blurry vision, cuts/bruises that are slow to heal, weight loss, even though you are eating more (type 1) and tingling pain or numbness in the hands/feet (type 2).
Type 2 diabetes can be easy to ignore, especially in the early stages when you’re feeling fine. But diabetes affects many major organs, including your heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes and kidneys. Controlling your blood sugar levels can help prevent these complications.
