After last weekend’s Kingfisher Bowling Association Men’s and Women’s Trips got off the a bit of a damp start, the women’s final was held at Margate on Monday in brilliant sunshine with even more brilliant bowls being played.
Unfortunately, the men’s semis and final will have to be played at a later stage as to some of the players were unavailable to play on Monday due to work commitments.
The Bell was out in full force with three teams in the play-offs with AMBC’s Moira Humphrey, Hester Hankey and Louise Shone giving it their all but had to settle for joint third place with the Bell’s Daphne Sapsford, Barbara Gradwell and Mada Lindique.
The Bell went on to have an “in-house” final that guaranteed that a Maureen and her team would be the winners. The eventual victors of what was a real nail-biting finish were Maureen Muller, Cyndy McMurtry and Tina Barbour with Maureen Head, Johannie Theron and Michelle Vermeulen the runners-up.
Kingfisher Bowling Association thanked the clubs who hosted the round robins on Saturday and Margate for hosting the play-offs and final on Sunday and Monday.
