The annual Ride for Remembrance fund-raising event that took place on Saturday was a grand display of support for the compassionate work that South Coast Hospice does in the community.

Seventy bikers started their ride at St Mike’s Beach, where a few nominated bikers were handed prayer flags to carry along with them on the ride to the finish.

The bikers ended their ride at Douglas Mitchell where they rode past a colourful display of hundreds of handmade butterfly prayer flags made by community members all over the country.

Kevin Brown welcomed the bikers and the group of 13 riders who came all the way from the Eastern Cape to support this special event.

After a prayer in remembrance of loved ones that have passed on, the bikers were served a scrumptious breakfast.

“Thanks to the bikers and their friends for their gracious and loyal support,” said BT King, South Coast Hospice’s fundraiser.

“A special thanks to our sponsors: Mndeni Meats, Lindsey Eggs, Fresh Meat, Port Shepstone Green Grocer, Bake Away Bakery and Douglas Mitchell Sports Bar for their generosity.

“Thank you to all staff and volunteers of South Coast Hospice that helped make the event a success,” added King.
