Blue Ocean Aquatics (BOA) was on top form in the season-opening Ugu age-group gala held at Southcity Christian College recently.
Eighteen of the 20 BOA swimmers swam personal best times, a great achievement as they have had a long layoff due to the lockdown.
There seem to be some great lessons to be learned from the lockdown and new coaching protocols.
Daniel Fisher swam a SANJ qualifying time in the 100m breaststroke while Gemma Allchin, Tehl-Cadi Day Garden, Nelzaan Strydom, Jeandre Joubert and Everraud Raynard all swam level 3 qualifying times.
Meanwhile, Aimeè Heydricks and Kirsty Koegelenberg upgraded by swimming level 2 qualifying times.
“These are very promising results and I looking forward to what is going to be achieved the rest of the season,” said coach Mandy Koegelenberg.
