South Coasters are no different from other South Africans — many are meat eaters, and they are extremely discerning about where they buy.  Ask them about their favourite butcher, the chances are that three or four names will pop up.   One of these favourites has made an exceptional name for itself over the past few years, namely the Bosveld Butchery in the Sebenza village in Margate.

It started off in a small shop with lots of character and a distinct  ‘boere feeling’ , as the owners were your typical bushveld people who knew what quality meat, service and atmosphere were all about. The butchery changed hands recently, and moved to bigger premises just around the corner from the old shop.  eHowz!t decided to visit the Bosveld Butchery in its new home during the special opening days last week, and found it to be larger, yes, but still with that distinct bushveld feeling…………strengthened by the fact that the previous owners are still there and helping to provide continuity.   We spoke to new owner Dirk Terblanche after soaking up the atmosphere in the new shop…….
