South Coast bowlers are confident that they can win gold in the Perfect Delivery Bowls South Africa Open Inter District Championship that takes place in the Southern Free State next week.
A strong group of bowlers from the Kingfisher Bowling Association (KBA) – the district that includes 18 clubs from Umkomaas in the North to Banner’s Rest in the South – depart inland today (Saturday) and insist they aren’t making the trip to make up the numbers.
KBA have entered players in each discipline and will thus be represented by eight women’s open, eight men’s open, eight senior women, eight senior men, eight B side women and eight B side men.
KBA president Lynne Bamber told eHowz!t: “The motto for all disciplines of our Kingfisher contingent is ‘Yes, we can win gold!”
Bamber, who will travel with the group and serve as manager of the women’s open team, added: “I am really looking forward to the inter districts in Bloem.
“It is a good side, made up of experienced bowlers, and quite capable of winning gold.”
Orangia Bowling Club will be the tournament headquarters with action also taking place at Bloemfontein Municipal Bowling Club, Bloemfontein Bowling Club and Oud Studente Bowling Club.
The tournament gets underway on Monday and culminates on Friday.
