The lawyer acting on behalf of Olympic cyclist Burry Stander’s family, Paul Preston, has told them he has been assured by the Chief Prosecutor for Southern KZN, Ray Sansom, that Sansom is in daily contact with the Director of Prosecution’s Office. Witnesses are now being interviewed before a final decision will be taken on whether to permanently withdraw charges against the taxi driver involved in the accident that killed Stander.  Preston  is satisfied that the case is receiving the necessary attention, and that it is still on track. Two weeks ago the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s court refused to grant the State another adjournment to wait for a decision from the Director Of Public Prosecutions on whether the driver would be prosecuted.
