Several cyclists from rural areas in the greater Ugu District have been invited to the first ever Development Cycling Camp in Pietermaritzburg.
The Burry Stander Foundation has invited 50 kids and five adults to the camp, which takes place from 11-14 July.
The group will leave by bus, stay in hostels near Alexander Park and learn skills in four disciplines of cycling, namely track, road, MTB and BMX.
Mandie Stander asked the community to assist the cyclists ahead of their trip.
“As we all know, it can get very cold in Pietermaritzburg. Please can we ask anyone on the South Coast that can save a blanket or sleeping bag to please donate it to the Burry Stander Foundation.
“We are also looking for someone who could sponsor lunch packs for the trip. We really want these kids to have a memorable cycling camp and to come back with knowledge that they can pass on to other kids,” she said.
To make a donation, contact Mandie on 079 493 7499 or Sally on 083 276 2637.
