The Margate Round Table and Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach golf day held at Margate Country Club on Saturday was a resounding success.

Approximately 80 golfers teed it up and raised over R12 000 that will be used for the aims and objectives of Margate Round Table.

Golfers were in high spirits during the jovial fundraiser but things got serious on the 16th as a hole-in-one would see someone drive away in a Toyota Aygo sponsored by Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach.

Wondra Bothma came the closest but in the end the car went unclaimed.

The closely contested betterball stableford had to be decided in a five-way count out, with Johan Wentzel and Anton Kohrmann emerging as the victors on 45 points to win a week-long stay at La Cote d’Azur.

The rest of the top five teams were Margaret Ford and Hilary Hendry, Robert Mavundla and Wonder Nxumalo, David Jenkinson and Paul Valentine and Louw van Niekerk and Hennie Botha.

Nearest to pin prizes went to Hans van der Walt (2nd), Wonder Nxumalo (8th), Paul Valentine (11th) and Bothma (16th).

Sponsors included Homes 100, Jim’s Bins, Baytree, Roeleveldt Quality Surveyors (QRS), Milton Plant Hire, Sanlam, Liberty, Liquor City, Estuary Hotel & Spa, Netcare 911, The Beekman Group, House of Paints, Robs Wood Shop, C-Bali and Coca Cola.
