Warren van der Merwe starred as the Port Shepstone men’s hockey team came from behind to beat Rivers 4 at Riverside on Sunday.

Fielding only 10 men, Sheppie knew they were in for a tough game and soon found themselves chasing the match after leaking two early goals.

With Van der Merwe on fire, Sheppie fought back to make it 2-2 at half-time.

The momentum was now with the visitors, who scored three more goals and conceded just one after the break to clinch a 5-3 win.

Van der Merwe finished the match with four goals while Greg Wigmore added his name to the scoresheet.

The Port Shepstone ladies team had a bye.
