‘Only positives came out of Protea Banks Government meeting’ — video report


The extreme uncertainty about the effect of the proposed Marine Protection Area along the lower South Coast that prevailed after the initial meetings between local interest groups and the provincial government nearly two years ago, has been replaced by confidence that if well managed, the MPA could well and truly put the South Coast ‘on the map’. A recent meeting was held between the Protea Banks Forum, which consists of various interest groups, and the relevant provincial authorities.   Well-known local businessman and keen marine conservationist Tony Kay told Johan Pretorius it was a good meeting with overwhelming consensus on many issues, although certain concerns still had to be addressed…….
