Criterion Power Sports has launched an exciting new monthly South Coast sport photo competition.
Boasting excellent prizes, the Criterion Power Sports Sick Pic of the Month competition powered by eHowz!t aims to bring a new dimension to sport and reward South Coasters for their photography skills.
Several sports qualify for the competition, which was inspired by Kevin Smith’s stunning photo of South African E2 champion Altus de Wet (above).
Port Shepstone-based Smith’s image, taken on his smartphone, earned him a pair of Fox motorcycle goggles and Fox sunglasses from Criterion Power Sports and has been used by Husqvarna South Africa and Fox.
It will also effectively serve as the standard-bearer of the Criterion Power Sports Sick Pic of the Month competition.
The competition has a few simple rules.
Photos, whether taken in or out of competition, must be taken on the South Coast or by a South Coast local.
Eligible sports are drifting, rally, hillclimb, enduro, off-road riding, motocross, freestyle motocross, trials, cycling, surfing, bodyboarding, wakeboarding, skateboarding, boating, jet skiing, kayaking/paddling and fishing.
To qualify, entrants must like both the eHowz!t and Criterion Power Sports Facebook pages, submit a high resolution photo to firstname.lastname@example.org and include a short image description (photographer credit, athlete, location, event and entrant’s contact details).
By entering, photographers also agree that winning photos may be used by both Criterion Power Sports and eHowz!t rights free.
The head judges of the competition are Ronald Tarboton, managing director of Criterion Power Sports – situated at Spillers’ Wharf in Port Shepstone – and eHowz!t sports and deputy editor Quintin van Jaarsveld.
An excited Tarboton said of the launch of the competition: “eHowz!t’s sports coverage is without peer, so it was a no-brainer to team up with them and we’re looking forward to receiving some great local photos.”
Entries for December are now open.
Please note, the cut-off date for monthly entries is the last Monday of each month to allow the judges sufficient time to select a winner.
All entries submitted after the cut-off date will roll over and be in the running for the following month’s competition.
