STATEMENT BY KWAZULU PRIVATE AMBULANCE:
At approximately 8:30 on Wednesday morning, a cyclist fell off his bike while cycling along Marine Drive in Shelly Beach.
The advanced life support paramedic from Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service was driving past at the time this happened and stopped to assist.
When the paramedic assessed the patient, the patient was in cardiac arrest. CPR was started immediately and within approximately 15 minutes of advanced life support resuscitation, paramedics managed to restart the patient’s heart.
The patient was placed into a ventilator and transported to the nearest hospital for further stabilization.
