The South Coast Snooker Doubles Championship final was played at Margate Country Club on Saturday and turned out to be an outstanding match.

Selvin Moodley and Flip Fourie beat Eddie Redlinguys and Siyanda Nkonyeni 5 frames to 4 in a nail-biter. At one stage of the match, it seemed smooth sailing for Redlinguys and Nkonyeni as they went ahead 3 frames to 1.

Nkonyeni took on some awesome pots and it seemed like it was their day but the match status changed as Moodley and Fourie edged their way back to make it 3-all.

Redlinguys, a former Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal player, showed his experience by playing great safety shots to allow his partner Nkonyeni to pot the colours and clinch the seventh frame to go up 4 frames to 3.

The next frame was a must-win for Moodley and Fourie to stay in the match and good potting from Fourie got the match all even at 4-all with the deciding frame to be played.

The match was won with three consecutive breaks of 20 in three visits to the table by Moodley, making it really difficult for their opponents. Fourie and Moodley held on to their lead and eventually took the title to win 5 frames to 4.

With just the Singles Championship to be played for in the next two weeks, there is much excitement and interest as to who will be the South Coast snooker champion for 2019. The semi-finals will be played on 12 December at 18h30 and the final on 13 December at 18h30.
