A thrilling Autonische Drags event delivered impressive times at Dezzi South Coast Raceway on Saturday.

Some of the fastest cars in the country lined up on the quarter mile, with a number of drivers recording nine-second runs.

“There’s nothing that brings us more joy than seeing drivers running times, having fun and ending a day safely,” said Harry Naidoo from KwaZulu-Natal Drag Racing.

Naidoo praised some the top drivers, saying, “We got 11-second aspirated Golfs going faster and faster. Congrats ‘Cream Cracker’ and Raveen, and Clinton Myburgh finally got his nine-second pass.

“Mohammad Sayed came back after five years and made a statement with his nitrous-powered 330D. Kirschlee Naidoo with a nine; boy, you are only going to get faster.

“Nishal Singh, a 10.4 yet again, still the fastest BMW F30M in SA, and Sanjay Jagesar, with the fastest normally-aspirated four-cylinder RWD in SA with a 10.6…respect.

“The boys from Richards Bay were flying; Marlon with his C63 and Dean and his team with a 10.7 with their BMW F30…well done.

“Karen Naidoo, congrats on your personal best and last but not least, Leeshan Naidoo – you are my hero. You’re a fighter…a 9.1 at Dezzi is no easy task…congratulations.”

Naidoo added, “Thank you to every driver, spectator, marshall, scrutineer and petrolhead that keeps this sport alive.

“To the drivers, you have no idea how we scream for you. It’s as though we are in the cars with you. Be safe and God bless.”
