Margate Swimming Club (MSC) is expanding.
The popular and successful club recently received the “keys” from Hoërskool Suid-Natal, where they should be operational from 1 October.
“We have decided to expand in order to accommodate the children that stay too far to attend Blue Ocean Aquatics at Creston and MSC at Southcity,” says MSC owner Gerhard Labuschagné.
“We are also all about our community and investing within our community. Teaching children to swim and investing in their talents will definitely open doors within their foreseeable futures,” he added.
Taking the reins as head coach of MSC at Suid-Natal is Samantha Labuschagné.
“Super Sam”, as she’s affectionately known, is one of the most talented swimmers the South Coast has produced, flying the South African flag in top international events, including winning bronze at a FINA World Cup event in Dubai in 2016 as part of a relay team that featured Olympic great Chad le Clos.
“I have been part of the swimming community for the last 16 years of my life. I have an absolute passion for the sport and the success thereof,” she said.
“During my swimming career, I have been fortunate enough to have represented my country nationally and internationally.
“My swimming years have shaped the person I am today and that is why I am very excited to take on the opportunity of being the head coach at Suid-Natal.
“I look forward to meeting all the up-and-coming new swimmers and sharing my passion and making them the best that they can be in the pool.”
