The final Cows charity fun run, walk and cycle of the year from Uvongo Fishing Pier on Monday was a smashing success.

Some 140 people started their public holiday on a fun and meaningful note by participating in the 5/10km event and raising much-needed funds for The Cows, who support the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa.

A total of R3922 was raised on the day through entries and donations. Regular participants in organiser Deborah Berridge’s year-round fund-raising events who couldn’t make the Day of Reconciliation edition, also donated their entry money.

In a major boost for the charity, a family trust has also donated a whopping R10 000.

While a fun run and not a race, the first to finish the 10km run were Peter Greystone (32:47) and Toni Mundl (40:26).

Berridge, a South Coast Strider and Cows Comrades runner, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the support, adding, “It was a very relaxed event enjoyed by all, despite the heat and a bit of wind,”
