On Sunday 22 November 2020, Margate SAPS Crime Prevention and Rapid Response team members had another busy weekend as they continued with the eradication of the illegal sale of alcohol in rural and urban areas of the Margate policing precinct.
Two males and a female were arrested for selling liquor without a license at Gcilima area. Later that night, a man was arrested for drunkenness in public. Cooler boxes with liquor were confiscated.
Margate Station Commissioner, Brigadier William Slabbert, stressed the need for the public to co-operate with the police and to abide by the municipal by-laws especially during the festive period.
Ongoing operations in his policing precinct will continue to ensure that everyone enjoys the holidays and within the range of the law.
