Margate Country Club will be a hub of activity as it hosts the ninth annual Halfway Toyota Margate Challenge from today until Saturday.
The three-day event incorporates golf, bowls and bridge and boasts R35 000 worth of prizes as well as a brand new 2014 Toyota Corolla for a hole-in-one on the 16th hole.
Club manager Dereck Hirson told eHowz!t: “It is always an exciting time for myself and the organiser as it is the main event of Margate Country Club and the showcase of our club.
“It’s great being involved with Halfway Toyota who contribute a large sponsorship and the car for the hole-in-one on the last day.”
The event is open to non-members.
The club aim to raise R100 000, which will go towards special projects to improve the condition and layout of the course.
The bowls start at 9am daily while the golf has a shotgun start at 11.30am daily. The bridge is only on Friday and starts at 9am.
With Hibiscus Coast Municipality mayor Cynthia Mqwebu away on business, the event will be opened by club chairman John Webster just before tee-off.
