Christo Esterhuizen, Heber de Beer, Jaco van der Waal and Johan Neethling won the Giorgio Express and Margate Pro Shop Business Day Alliance by a point at Margate Country Club on Friday.
They won the competition (two to count, except mystery holes; highest and lowest) on 94 points.
One adrift were runners-up Allan Halvorsen, Basie Geldenhuis, Frikkie van Zyl and Johan Erasmus.
Joan Minnaar, John Barker, Cyril Greensmith and Andrew van der Berg won a count out for third place on 92 points.
Barbara Jackson, Maureen Ogilvie, Jane Davies and Lexley Lewis were fourth, also on 92 points, with John Ford, Keith Duncalf, Alan Davies and Derek Egerton fifth on 91 points.
The nearest to pin prizes went to John Ford on the 2nd and Roy Knight on the 11th.
The ladies kicked off the week’s competitive golf with their combined stableford on Tuesday.
Una McLachlan and Lesley Erasmus were the clear winners on 69 points, with Margaret Ford and Lynn Meek second on 66 points.
Tony Peace, Frank Stephens and Frank Merrill dominated the wobblers threeball alliance (two to count, multiply par 5s) on Wednesday.
Their winning score of 93 points was six clear of Jim Finn, Alan Davies and Doug Johnston, who took second place after counting out Dieter Jucker, Carl Zurfluh and Derek Egerton on 87 points.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Dolf Willemse, Rob McGill and Steve McGill on 68 points.
Rod Bouwer was equally impressive in Thursday’s individual stableford sponsored by Margate Pro Shop.
Bouwer won comfortably on 46 points, while Jim Finn and Angus McLachlan were second and third on 41 and 39 points respectively.
Mike Lee and Rob Weyer wrapped up the week’s competitive golf by winning the men’s betterball stableford on 46 points on Saturday.
Angus McLachlan and Brian Jolliffe counted out Johan Erasmus and Frikkie van Zyl for second place on 44 points.
