Golfers paid tribute to a South African and South Coast mountain biking legend in the Burry Stander Memorial Golf Day at Margate Country Club on Saturday.
The field teed it up in a betterball stableford competition, which raised funds for the foundation named after the two-time Olympian, who died in an accident involving a taxi in Shelly Beach on 3 January 2013.
A count out was needed to determine the winners after the top two were tied on 48 points and, in the end, it was the pairing of Juan Dixon and Anton Kohrmann who edged Tom and Ann van der Walt for the spoils.
They were presented with the trophy by Burry’s father, Charles.
Rob Ellis and John Coliprolie counted out Ed Steyn and Patrick Mavundla and Craig Jolliffe and Rob Whitehouse for third place on 47 points.
The nearest to pin prizes were won by Maureen Ogilvie (4th) and Shaun Olivier (16th), while the Longest Walk was made by Gary Sinclair and Kyle Pride.
