The ladies golf section got proceedings underway at Margate Country Club last week with a good sized field.

The Tuesday competition was played in a Nassau individual point scoring format and the overall winner, over the 18 holes, was Lexley Lewis with 38 points.

The front 9 was won by Grace Fourie and the back 9 by Dawn Howden with 18 and 19 points respectively.

The Club 100 played on the same day, in an individual point scoring format, and was won by Kim Howden with 39 points. Flip Fourie came second on 35 points.

Wednesday saw the Wobblers play a threeball alliance with two to count and was won by Eddie Gommersall, Hans Dallinger and Thys Bothma with 80 points.

Rob McGill, Piet Pretorius and Hans Beilhartz secured second place on 77 points, while third place went to Andre Henn, Alan Davies and Brian Jeffreys with 76 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Dave Morrison, Otto Mutschler and Peter Hunter for their contribution of 64 points.

Unfortunately, the weather conditions scared the Thursday field away, but the sun was out with vengeance for the Saturday club competitions.

The ladies competition, played in a combined stableford format, was won by Hilary Hendry and Sandi Johnston with 63 points. Dawn Howden and Beryl Williamson secured second place on 61 points.

The men’s club competition was also played in a combined stableford format and won by Peter McCarthy and Peter Hunter with 74 points.

Joe Espach and Richard Whittington came second on 73 points, while Kim Howden and Andrew Curlewis secured third place with 65 points.

Nearest to the pins on the 4th and 16th holes went to Peter Hunter and Carlos Pereira respectively.
